Project Tycho principal investigator Wilbert van Panhuis visited the Dutch Techcentre for Life Sciences (DTLS) in Utrecht, The Netherlands to explore application of the FAIR guiding principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) to global health data. The FAIR guiding priniples were developed by the DTLS team to improve the use of existing data for research and technological innovation. FAIR principles are not domain specific, and each domain will be encouraged to develop their own set of data standards. DTLS participates in a new initiative named Global Open (GO) FAIR, to help create FAIR implementation networks that demonstrate how FAIR can help to better integrate data. Together with partners, Project Tycho will be exploring opportunities to create a FAIR implementation network for global health.
